A woman, Ujunwa Obi has landed into trouble after she gave out money to local fraudsters (money doublers) who deceived her that they would print N10 million for her in exchange for N170,000 and subsequently make her rich.
The woman did not only lost the money she was promised, she equally lost her own money she staked in the business and went home frustrated.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the mother of two was accosted by the notorious fraud gang operating around Ikotun area and told her it was possible for her to become rich and she agreed.
They asked her to bring the money she had and they will double it to N10 million and she will become rich and will be able to solve all her pressing problems.
It was gathered that they did produced sample in her presence and printed few monies which made Obi to be more convinced because she was asked to use the money to pay for anything which she did.
When she staked the money and she was asked to come the following day to collect the money they promised which will be loaded in a box for her. On the agreed date, when she got there and met nobody. She then realised she had been duped.
She went to Ikotun police division and reported what happened and the police successfully trailed the gang and arrested one of the suspects.
The suspect, Ugonna Nwaele, 31 was arrested and charged before Magistrate’s court sitting in Ejigbo with conspiracy, stealing and obtaining under false pretence.
He pleaded not guilty.
The presiding Magistrate, Mr A.A. Fashola granted Nwaele bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 23 January 2017 for mention.
