The Senator representing Anambra South Senatorial District, Senator Andy Uba(APC) has described the Nigerian Woman as a blessing to the nation.
Uba said this in a solidarity message to women on the occassion of the International Women’s Day.
Uba described the Nigerian women as pillars of strength and pacesetters of the nation’s development, stating that without them, our society would have had its development stymied.
“On this day, I felicitate and fete the Nigerian Woman, whether she is in Uga my home town or in Nnewi, Aba, Owerri, Lagos, Kaduna, Sokoto and Ibadan. I stand with them in solidarity against the challenges that stare them on a daily basis, asking how can we confront and surmount such challenges? What legislation do we employ to meet the growing calls for increased women participation and empowerment? How do we protect the woman?
These are germane issues for every society if we are interested in striving for development as a people, we cannot neglect these issues, or we do so at our own peril.”
Senator Uba, however took time to fete the Nigerian Woman, drawing praises for the likes of Mrs. Funmi Ransome Kuti, Hajia Gambo Sawaba, Flora Nwapa, Professor Ikejiani Clark, Professor Dora Akunyili, Dame Virgy Etiaba and other women who on daily basis show courage and determination to move our society to greater heights.
