The Nigerian Community in Papua New Guinea is mobilizing to cheer the U20 Women National Team, Falconets in their World Cup opening cracker against Japan on Sunday.
A delegation of the executives of Nigerians resident in Papua New Guinea was at the Bava Park Stadium on Friday night to watch Falconets train under floodlight.
David Mba, who is a manager in one of the leading Telecom companies in Port Moresby, disclosed that arrangements have been concluded to paint the 5,000–capacity Stadium with Nigeria’s green and white colours.
“We are strongly mobilising to come out en masse to support these young girls. Already we have procured green and white T-shirts to be handed out to all Nigerians and locals on Sunday. Nigeria is a favourite of the host country and they are eager to join us in lending their support to the Falconets against Japan.”
Speaking in the same vein, another Nigerian, Dr. Ignatius Mogaba, stated that flags would be handed out to the supporters, adding that tickets would also be made available for all Falconets’ group stage matches.
“We are going to give out free tickets for all of Nigeria’s group stage matches. Our country’s flags would also be made available. The players can be rest assured that they are not alone in this journey.
“We are solidly behind them and we are convinced that they will make Nigerians all over the world proud.”
Meanwhile, match tickets for the Nigeria, Japan Group B match have been sold out.
