It is said that the hallmark of a progressive and productive government is total commitment to meaningful policies and programmes that have positive transformational impact in the lives of the people.

The activities of Hon Morenike Adesina Williams, the Executive Chairman, Igando-Ikotun Local Council Development Area of Lagos State since she took over as the Council boss in 2017, have been geared towards meaningful policies, programmes and projects.

Having made campaign promises before her resounding victory at the last local government election in the state, she hit the ground running and has recorded tremendous success in setting the stage for the realization of people oriented and life changing programmes for the residents of the council.

Foremost among the achievements she has recorded so far was the sustained relative peace and harmony in the area considering the diverse tribal and religious leaning of residents in the local council. This is more germane in that, it is only in an atmosphere of peace that any meaningful development can be actualized. With cooperation and support from the different security agencies, stakeholders, as well as religious leaders and traditional chiefs in the council, the administration of Hon Morenike Adesina Williams has been able to maintain peace and order to the credit and glory of God, while it has also been able to successfully handle tensed situations when issues arose. Indeed, Hon. Williams is a peace loving public administrator!

A visit to the Council Headquarters will affirm the cordial relationship that exists between the people of Igando-Ikotun LCDA and the local government administration as people have unfettered access to the Council officials and are attended to promptly.

Another spectacular success in the string of achievements of Hon. Williams’ administration is the boost of the Internally Generated Revenue of the Council. With the improved revenue drive of the Council under her administration, leakages within the system were blocked giving room for availability of funds to execute noble projects.

Within 100 days in office as the Council boss, Hon Morenike Adesina Williams had so many projects to showcase as achievements and she raised the bar as she celebrated her 200 days in office with an empowerment programme.

At the programme, she said that the celebration was aimed at executing her administration’s poverty alleviation programme. Hon Williams donated exercise books to some schools within the council area while some men and women received free items, such as sewing machines, hair-cutting tools, hair dryers and grinding machines.

The schools that benefitted included Local Government Nursery/Primary School Two, Ijegun, Community Primary School One, Ikotun, Community Primary School Two, Ikotun, and Olukotun Primary School, Ikotun while the beneficiaries included Mrs. Esther Johnson, Mrs. Adebayo Abibat, Mr. Mayowa Moses, Mrs. Esther Adewale Funmilola Emmanuel, Yemisi Balogun and others.

Also at the empowerment programme, the LCDA Head of Administration, Mr. Olalere Olarenwaju, while applauding the achievements of Hon Williams described the event as the celebration of 200 days of responsible and functional service delivery. He said that under her watch that the LCDA had also empowered 200 indigenes, among others.

Hon Morenike Adesina Williams has put in tremendous effort to lift the state of education in the Council with different programmes and in July this year the Igando-Ikotun LCDA Chairman, gave out over 200 free GCE Forms to students in the community.

In line with respect for different organs of government, Hon Morenike Adesina Wiliams has given the needed attention to the other arms of government. Some months ago, she inaugurated the official cars of the members of the legislative arm of the LCDA and made sure that legislators are comfortable while performing their duties.

It is on record that the energetic Council boss has constructed some roads and drainages which brought succour to commuters and residents in the area. To boost business activities within the Council areas, Hon Williams focused on access roads to different markets; Ikotun market and some streets that were water-logged had been taken care of and many ongoing projects can be seen around the area.

Hon. Morenike Adesina Williams has made giant strides in different sectors. Just days ago, she bagged the award for the BEST LOCAL GOVERNMENT IN AGRICULTURE for the Council’s exemplary performance in Agriculture at the Lagos State Government Ministry of Agriculture 2018 Award. The organisers said that selecting Hon. Morenike Williams for the award was easy as her track record of exemplary performance towered above her peers in the last one year as she had worked tirelessly with landmark projects visible all over the area.

The award was received on behalf of the Executive Chairman by the Igando-Ikotun Head of Agriculture, Mr. Ogunmadejo Ibrahim, last week but was officially handed over to her on 23rd October, 2018, and the presentation was witnessed the by Vice Chairman, Hon Prince Adewunmi Dada, Comrade Lasisi Ayinde Akinsanya, Secretary to Local Govt, Hon. Wale Azeez Oniloko, Supervisor for Works, Igando-Ikotun Legislative Arm, Supervisors, HODs, State Capital Monitoring Project officials from the Office of Auditor General and officials of Federal Character Commission.

When P.M.EXPRESS visited the Council Secretariat of fact finding mission, the elated Council boss said that even with the awards and accolades coming her way, she is more than determined to stick to their campaign manifesto and continue in their consistent delivery of the dividends of democracy to the people.

Expressing satisfaction with her performance, she said: “I have already fulfilled my promise’’ in line with the administration’s promise on dividend of democracy. She said kudos should equally be given to her team of elected and appointed officials and the Council officials who had made governance easy.

Hon. Morenike Adesina Williams promised not to rest until her dream of positioning Igando-Ikotun as a smart city is achieved considerably through progressive and productive governance.
