Tandoh Thanks Lagosians For Success Of Access Bank Lagos City Marathon

The Executive Chairman, Lagos State Sports Commission, Dr. Kweku Adedayo Tandoh expressed his gratitude to the people  of Lagos State for being a part of the success story of the IAAF sanctioned event.

The one day event was won by Kenyan born, Abraham Kiprotich who finished ahead of over 80,000 athletes from across the world at 2: 13: 04 secs to win a sum of $50,000.

The duo of Kibos Roony and Bitok Benjamin, both Kenyans finished in the second and third place respectively with a time of 2:13:26 and 2:13:29

Tandoh, a member of the Main Organising Committee,  said he was overwhelmed with the success of the event,  adding that the huge success recorded could not have been possible without the support of all and sundry.

He particularly thanked His Excellency, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode for committing the machinery of the state to ensure the success of the International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF) Bronze label event.

“In line with Governor Akinwunmi Ambode’s vision to make Lagos a hub of Sports in Africa and a choice destination of Tourism and Hospitality, I want to assure Lagosians of more sporting activities of international standard”, Tandoh stated.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that next year’s edition of Access Bank Lagos City Marathon will take place on Saturday, 9th February, 2019.
