2 CAC Members Docked For Disrupting Church Service & Threatening To Kill Their Pastors

Two members of Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Ibadan, Oyo State, Ezekiel Akinniyi, 63, and his accomplice, Wale Oguntade, have been charged for allegedly disrupting church activities and threatening to kill two of their Pastors over undisclosed disagreement.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Sango-Poly Road in Ibadan, where the church is located.
The lingering crisis took a dark and dangerous turn as the church members and others now at large were said to have locked the main gate of the church premises, trapping congregants inside while service was ongoing and disrupted the activities in the church.
It took the intervention of the Police to forestall further damage. The Police operatives eventually arrested the suspects and arraigned before the Magistrate Court for allegedly conspiring to unleash terror on their own Pastors and fellow worshippers.
They were charged for conspiracy and unlawful threat to life under the Criminal Law of the State.
The Prosecutor, Inspector Kehinde Olarotimi, told the Court that the defendants, Akinniyi and Oguntade, along with other accomplices still at large, took the law into their own hands during a church service.
They were accused of locking the main gate of the church premises, trapping congregants inside while services were ongoing.
They allegedly threatened to kill two clerics — Pastor Michael Ajayi and Pastor Daramola along with other unnamed members of the church and vowed to “unleash terror” on the worshippers.
Inspector Olarotimi argued that the actions of the defendants were not a minor squabble but a premeditated criminal act that contravened the laws of Oyo State.
He stated that the offences were punishable under Sections 86 (unlawful threat to life) and 516 (criminal conspiracy) of the Criminal Law of Oyo State, 2000.
Both Akinniyi and Oguntade pleaded not guilty.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. Adebola Adeola, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N500,000 each, with two sureties each in a like sum.
The Magistrate stipulated that the sureties must be verified and approved by the court.
The matter was adjourned till 16th February, 2026, for hearing while the defendants were remanded in custody at the correctional center pending when they will perfect their bail conditions .
