Police operatives from the Ajao Estate Division have arrested two female domestic cleaners, Dorothy Musa, 23 and Dorcas Sunday, 21, for allegedly conspiring and stealing their Chinese boss $20,000 inside his bedroom in Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the equivalent of the money is about N14m, which was kept inside the bedroom at the house located at Ike God Street, Ajao Estate, where their Chinese boss, Mr. Xueyao Huang, resides with his family.
The Police alleged that sometime in September 2022, the two domestic staff went to clean Mr. Huang’s bedroom, saw a box containing the money, and then conspired to steal it.
Having stolen the money, they shared it between them and attempted to escape before they were apprehended and handed over to the Police at Ajao Estate Division for interrogation over the alleged theft.
During interrogation, they reportedly confessed to have stolen the money, which they shared and had used part of it to solve their pressing problems.
The Police found them culpable and subsequently charged them before the Isolo Magistrates Court for the alleged theft.
However, when they were arraigned, they denied and pleaded not guilty despite the fact that they had admitted before the Police to have stolen the money.
The prosecutor, Inspector Oje Uagbale, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since they pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that they actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.A. Akokhia, granted them bail in the sum of N1m with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment.
The matter was adjourned till 13th December, 2022, for mention while the defendants were remanded in custody at Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when they will perfect their bail conditions.
