2 Men Arraigned For Allegedly Stealing N14m Lexus Car

Two men, Okon Owai, 35 and John Lima, 43, have been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly conspiring and stealing a Lexus car worth N14m belonging to Akerele Yusuf. 

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 15th February, 2025, at High Castle Estate, Ipaja area of Lagos, where the car was parked by the owner.

 

According to the Police, the suspects conspired and stole the Lexus ES 350 car worth the amount in question but were unlucky as the matter was reported to the Police at Area P Command, Ipaja. The operatives swiftly moved into action, arrested and detained the suspects at the Command for interrogation.

 

After rounds of interrogation, the Police found them culpable and consequently charged them before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment.

 

The charges read:

Count 1: “That you, Okon Owai ‘M’, John Lima ‘M’ on the 15th day of February, 2025, at about 08:30am at Road 13, High Castle Estate, Ipaja Lagos in the Lagos Magisterial District, did conspire among yourselves to commit felony to wit stealing and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 411 of the criminal Law, law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”

 

Count II:” That you, Okon Owai ‘M’, John Lima ‘M’ on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did steal a Lexus ES 350 car valued the sum of Fourteen Million Naira (N14,000,000.00K) property of one Akerele Yusuf ‘M’ and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 287 of the criminal law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”

 

They pleaded guilty.

 

The prosecutor, Supol Benedict Aigbokhan, then asked the Court to give a date to enable him to present the facts of the matter so that the Honourable Court will sentence him accordingly.

 

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.K. Dosumu-Uthman, ordered their remand in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos and adjourned the matter till 24th March, 2025, for facts and sentence.
