2 Men Arraigned For Stealing Woman’s N12m Parcel Of Gold Jewelries

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Akinwunmi Street, Mende, Maryland, Lagos.

According to the Police, the suspects went where the complainant kept the items and carted them away. When she eventually discovered that the items were stolen, she went to the Police and reported what happened.

The Police operatives moved into action, eventually arrested the suspects and detained them for interrogation over the missing items.

They were eventually found culpable by the Police and charged before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.

The charges read:

COUNT I: “That you, Micheal Simple ‘m’ and Boniface Onyebuchi ‘m’ and others now at now at large on the 12th March, 2025 at about 645hrs at No 29, Akinwunmi Street, Mende, Maryland, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did conspire among yourselves to commit felony to wit conduct likely to cause the breach of peace and thereby committed and offenice contrary to and punishable under Section 411 of the criminal law of Lagos State, 2015.”

COUNT II:”That you, Micheal Simple ‘m’ and Boniface Onyebuchi ‘m’ and others now at large on the same date, time and place in the aforesaid magisterial district, did commit felony among yourselves to steal a parcel of Gold Jewelries value Twelve Million Naira (N12,000,000.00) the property of one Ojo Ganiyat ‘f and thereby committed an offence to the provisions of Section 280 and punishable under Section 287 (7) of the criminal law of Lagos State, 2015.”

However, they pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Inspector Udugbo Innocent, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since they pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that they actually committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. M. O. Popoola, granted the defendants bail with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendants were  remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
