Two men, Muiz Quadri and Elijah Ayelagba, who were secretly engaging their neighbour’s 15-year old girl in sex differently, have landed in trouble in Lagos State after the victim exposed them.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspects, Quadri and Ayelagba, have been arrested and charged for defilement.

The incident happened on Jimoh and Aseju Streets, Ijora Badia area of Lagos, where Quadri and Ayelagba lived respectively.

According to the Police, the suspects lured the girl and engaged her in sex. While Ayelagba allegedly defiled her in June, 2023, Quadri was said to have raped her on 11th September, 2023.

However, the whole thing got exposed after the victim revealed what happened to her parents and the matter was reported to the Police in the area. At that point, the suspects were arrested and later transferred to the Gender Section of the Police Command for interrogation over their alleged conduct.

After rounds of interrogation, the Police found them culpable and consequently charged them before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.

However, the Court did not take their plea after the prosecutor,  DSP Kehinde Ajayi, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice because of the nature of the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. Kubeinje, ordered their remand in custody at the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.

The matter was adjourned till 14th November, 2023, for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be made available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
