Police operatives from Ado, Ekiti State Command, have arrested two men for allegedly gang-raping a 16-year old girl inside her mother’s room.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspects Ebenezer Olamide, 24 and Oladipo Kolade, 31, have been charged before the Court for alleged rape of a minor.

The Prosecuting counsel, Mrs. Shirley Atane, from Ekiti State Ministry of Justice, told the Court that the defendants committed the offence on 27th September, 2021, in Ado-Ekiti.

Mrs. Atane alleged that the defendants around 2:00pm on the said date jumped into the girl’s compound and both forcefully had sex with her in her mother’s room as the mother travelled.

According to her, the offence contravenes Section 2 (2) of the Ekiti State Gender Based Violence (Prohibition) Amended Law, 2019.

She urged the Court to remand the defendant in the Correctional Centre pending legal advice from the office of Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).

The pleas of the defendants were not taken.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr. Saka Afunso, ordered the remand of the defendants at the Correctional Centre pending the report of DPP’s advice.

He adjourned the case until 9th November, 2021, for mention.
