2 Women Arrested Over Missing New Baby At Hospital

A new born baby delivered at an herbal home by a nursing mother, Ajimoh Bola, disappeared and was later found in custody of the owner of the home and another woman in Lagos State.

The owner of the home, Mrs. Ifadodiyomi Bolanle, 59 and a 61-year old Lawal Abisola has been arrested over the disappearance of the baby girl from the home.

The incident happened at Bolanle Ifadodiyomi Herbal Home located at Onilude Street, Atobaje area of Agege, Lagos. 

According to Police sources, the suspects allegedly conspired and took the baby to an unknown place without informing the mother, Bola.

However, when the nursing mother did not see her baby, she raised an alarm and reported to the Police. The suspects were then arrested and detained at the station for interrogation.

At the Elere Police Division, where they were detained for interrogation, they reportedly confessed that they took the baby from the mother and took her for treatment in another hospital for treatment for an undisclosed deformity.

After thorough interrogation, the Police found them culpable and subsequently charged them before the Ogba Magistrates Court for conduct likely to breach public peace.

When they arraigned, they pleaded not guilty. 

The prosecutor, Mr. Lucky Ihiehie, asked the Court to give a date for hearing to enable the Police to prove that they actually committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. A. Layinka, granted them bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.

They were remanded in custody at Kirikiri correction centre, Lagos, pending when they will perfect their bail conditions. 

The matter was adjourned till 8th March, 2022, for mention.
