2023: Former Ikeja LG Council Boss Indicates Interest To Contest

After many months of speculation in the media space and political circles, the former Sole Administrator of Ikeja Local Government Area, Lagos State, Engr. Dr. Abiodun Taiwo, has indicated that he is aspiring to occupy a legislative position come 2023.

The trained Civil Engineer and haulage mogul, who had kept the political space buzzing with rumours of his interest, however, did not indicate the particular position he will be vying for in the upcoming elections.

In the last two weeks, his posters and silhouettes had adorned the streets and strategic corners of Ikeja Local Government Area, fuelling speculations that he may be interested in going to either the House of Representatives or the Lagos State House of Assembly (Ikeja Constituency 2), which he had tried twice in the past and eventually stepped down his aspirations following party’s leadership position.Although, before now some had speculated that he is eyeing the Lagos West Senatorial seat.

While setting the records straight on Sunday 27th March, 2022, Engr. Dr. Taiwo Abiodun, popularly known as Eni Afe, said; “Definitely, I will be contesting, but I am still consulting with my leaders, my Constituents and my teeming supporters”. 
As regards his posters and silhouettes that adorned the streets of Ikeja, he said; “These were all done by my supporters and some political friends, who inferred my intentions. Whilst I thank them for their support and trust in me, I will like to use this medium to plead with them to allow me to finish with my consultations first”.

The days ahead promises to be interesting as the general public, constituents and teeming supporters look forward to his formal declaration of interest and which position he will be vying for in the forthcoming election.

No doubt, due to his popularity and acceptance amongst party faithful, his show of interest has created panic amongst other aspirants including speculations with the attendant political calculations among Constituents.
