3 Women Arraigned For Enticing Parents To Sell Their Baby

Three women, Vincent Mariam, 35, Samuel Precious, 24 and Princess Solomon, 22, have landed in trouble in Lagos State for allegedly enticing the parents of an 18 months old baby to sell to a buyer, Lawal Sani, for N2.5m. 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened in January, 2025, at Afolabi Taiwo Street, ljegun, Lagos.

However, after the incident, the information leaked and the matter was reported to the Police at Isheri Oshun Division. The women were arrested and transferred to the Gender Section of the Lagos State Command for interrogation over their alleged conduct.

After thorough interrogation,  the Police found them culpable and charged them before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment.

Part of charges read:

“That you, Vincent Mariam ‘f’, Samuel Precious ‘f’. Princess Solomon ‘f and one other now at large, in the month of January 2025, at Afolabi Taiwo Street, ljegun – Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did conspire amongst yourselves to commit felony to wit human trafficking and contemporary slavery and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”

COUNT II:”That you, Vincent Mariam ‘f, Samuel Precious ‘f. Princess Solomon ‘f’ and one other now at large, in the month of January 2025 at Afolabi Taiwo Street, Iljegun Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial strict, did entice and take away from the parents one Rachael Uche 1year and 6months and sold the baby to one Lawal Sani ‘f’ at Two Million, Five Hundred Thousand Naira (N2,500,000.00) and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 277(1)(b) of the minal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”

However, they pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since they pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that they actually committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Kusanu, granted them bail with sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendants were remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when they will perfect their bail conditions.
