Police operatives from the Lagos State Command have arrested four boys, who allegedly conspired, gang raped a 16-year old girl and injured her in the process.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Opeolu Street, Agege area of Lagos, where they reside with their parents.

The suspects, Habeeb Adekunle,  Suleiman Hassan,  Oladosu Oluwaseun and Akinfenwa Fiyinfoluwa were charged for defilement, which attracts several years of prison term or life imprisonment if they are tried and found guilty before the Court for the alleged dastardly act.

The Police alleged the suspects to have lured the girl to an apartment and forcefully engaged her in sex romp one after the other before they allowed her to go.
When the girl got home, she told her parents what happened and the matter was reported to the Police in the area. The suspects were then trailed and arrested. They were later transferred to the Gender Section of the Command for interrogation.

After thorough interrogation, the Police found them culpable and subsequently charged them before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged offence.

When they were arraigned, the Court did not take their plea following a motion by the prosecutor,  Mr. Lucky Ihiehie, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice since both the defendants and victim are still minors.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. A.  Layinka, ordered their remand in Correctional Centre pending the outcome of the DPP’s report and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.

The matter was adjourned till 5th May, 2022, for report of the DPP to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the defendants will face trial despite the fact they are still minors if the DPP finds them culpable and recommends their trials for the alleged offence.
