Police operatives from the Iba Division have started manhunt for four friends, who allegedly conspired and gang raped a 19-year old girl in Lagos State.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Agelete Agric in Iba New Site, Lagos, where they reside.

One of the suspects, a 20-year old,  Ganiyu Samod, has been arrested and charged before the Court for conspiracy and unlawful sex with the victim while the three others were said to be at large.
The Police alleged that on 9th January, 2022, the suspect, Samod and three of his friends conspired, lured the girl to an apartment and forcefully engaged her in sex one after the other without her consent. They were said to have stripped the girl naked and engaged her in the sex romp while watching the act together in order to further humiliate her.

Having satisfied themselves, they allowed her to go with a warning that she will not tell anyone what they did to her despite the fact that she was in pain.
However, she went home and informed her parents about what happened and the matter was reported to the Police. The operatives started trailing the suspects and eventually succeeded in arresting Samod. He was detained at the station for interrogation.

During interrogation, the suspect reportedly admitted to have done so and mentioned others, who are now at large.

The Police found him culpable and subsequently charged him before the Ojo Magistrates Court for the alleged dastardly act, which attracts several years of imprisonment if he is tried and found guilty before the Court.

When he was arraigned, he pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Supol Uche Simeon, asked the Court to use its discretion on the granting of bail to enable the defendant to come to Court to face trial over the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. A. A.  Adesanya, granted him bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.

The matter was adjourned till 23rd April, 2022, while the defendant was remanded in custody pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
