50-Year Old Man Docked For Flogging Wife During Squabble

A 50-year old man, Arowolo Olatunji, has been arrested by the Police for allegedly flogging his wife, Kehinde Olatunji, for correction when they quarrelled in Ogun State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at No. 28, Ibrahim Kolawola, Baba Ode, Oniniku, Ota area of Ogun State, where they reside.
The man, Arowolo, has been charged before the Ota Magistrates Court and remanded in custody for the alleged offence by assaulting his wife with a stick.
At the Court, the Police Prosecutor, Inspector E.O. Adataloye, told the Court that the defendant committed the offence at his residence by assaulting his wife, Kehinde, with a stick, which caused her an injury on her left hand.
The matter was reported to the Police and he was arrested and charged before the Court for the alleged offence, which contravened Section 351 of the Criminal Code, Vol.1, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
However, he pleaded not guilty.
The Presiding Magistrate, A.O. Adeyemi, granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and the surety must be resident within the Court’s jurisdiction and gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to the Ogun State Government.
He was remanded in custody pending when he will perfect his bail conditions while the matter was adjourned till 2nd March, 2023, for further hearing.
