6 Suspected Aiye Cult Members Arrested During Meeting To Mark Anniversary

Police operatives from the Tactical team of the Commissioner of Police have arrested six suspected members of Aiye Confraternity during a meeting in preparation to mark their children anniversary in Lagos State. 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspects,  Abidemi Abiodun, 22, Kehinde Adesanya, 30, Essien Jeremiah, 22, Usman Saka,32, David Paul Oto, 20, Job Paul, 35 and others now at large were having a meeting in preparation for 7th July, 2025, annual anniversary in Obalende area of Lagos.

While they were said to be having the meeting, they did not know that the Police had intelligence information of their plans, as the operatives moved swiftly, arrested and detained them at the Command for interrogation over their alleged conduct.

The Police found them culpable to be members of proscribed secret cult after interrogation and consequently charged them before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.

The charges read:

“That you, Abidemi Abiodun ‘m’, Kehinde Adesanya ‘m’, Essien Jeremian ‘m, Usman Saka David Paul Oto ‘m’, Job Paul ‘m’ and others now at large, on the 21st day of June, 2025, at about 0200hrs and 7th day of July, 2025, at about 1000hrs, at Obalende Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did conspire amongst yourselves to commit felony to wit: Membership of unlawful society and thereby committed an offence Contrary to and Punishable under Section 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.”

COUNT II: “That you, Abidemi Abiodun ‘m’, Kehinde Adesanya ‘m’, Essien Jeremiah ‘m’, Usman Saka ‘m’, David Paul Oto ‘m’, Job Paul ‘m’ and others now at large, on the same date, time and place, in the aforesaid Magisterial District, did belong to Aiye confraternity, which is proscribed by Law as an unlawful society and thereby committed an offence Contrary to and Punishable under Section 2(3)(a)(b)(c) (d) of the Unlawful Societies Prohibition and Cultism Law of Lagos State, 2021.”

However, they pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Supol Phillip Ademigbuji, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since they pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that they actually committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Kusanu, granted them bail with sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendants were remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when they will perfect their bail conditions.
