6 Suspects Arrested For Burning & Looting Police Station

Police operatives from Area G Command in Lagos have arrested six suspects, who allegedly set Pen Cinema Police Division ablaze and looted properties inside under the pretence of protesting against Police brutality.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspects were Tunde Abiodun, 32, Sodiq Tiamiyu, 23, Olatokun Seun, 27, Apena Akeem, 52, Olawunmi Latest, 28 and Isah Luckman, 24.

After interrogation and having been found culpable, they have been charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for conspiracy, arson and stealing then remanded in Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos.

The Police alleged that the defendants on 21st October, 2020, conspired and set the Police Station ablaze and thereafter looted properties inside the Station.

Some of the items stolen included motorcycles seized from owners, plasma televisions, laptop computers, chairs and tables found at the station.

They reportedly stole the items and escaped during the protest but they were later identified, arrested and charged before Court for the alleged offence.

They pleaded not guilty. 
The prosecutor, Supol Benson Emerhi, asked the Court to give a date for hearing to enable the Police to prove that they committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. J.A. Adegun, granted them bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.

They were remanded in prison custody pending when they will perfect their bail conditions while the matter was adjourned till a further date after it came up.
