MATAC Taekwondo Championship To Attract 200 Athletes At Police College, Ikeja

No fewer than 200 athletes drawn from 30 schools and six clubs are expected to be part of the 4th edition of the annual Awodi Master Taekwondo Championship ( MATAC) slated for Police College Hall, Ikeja on Saturday, 30th, October 2021.

The organiser of the event, Grand Master Peter Awodi said the tournament which starts at 8 am is for U-17 boys and girls who will be vying for honours in 20 weight categories in the one-day event.


According to him, there will be trophies and gift items for the best boy and girl athletes, best dancer, best referee trophy, punctuality trophy for the first team to register for the tournament, while international recognized referees will be on the ground to officiate at the championship.

Awodi, who was the former Oyo and Kogi State coaches, who have also won many medals, both as an athlete and coach, announced that some special guests of honours such as the Chairman of Lagos State Taekwondo Association and top Police Officers will grace the event, while there will be musical entertainment at the venue.


He further explained that apart from the tournament helping the kids to be in form, it will also help them make friends and be combat-ready at all times.
