Nigerian Actress, Bridget John Wins Best Actress Award At Pan African Film Festival In Cannes

For playing the lead role creatively well in a film titled, Marrying a Campbell, US-based Nigerian actress, Bridget John has won the Best Actress at the Pan African International Film Festival, Festival International du Film Panafricain de Cannes (FIFP), which was held in Cannes, France on Sunday, 24 October.

It was a moment of celebration for the Edo State-born actress, the producer of the award-winning Adora when she was called to the podium to receive her award during the well-attended prestigious film festival in Cannes.

Marrying a Campbell, a Twin Vision Film production, a 2021 Nigerian drama film produced by Delta-born Caesar Oruade, which was shot in Asaba, Delta State, south-south Nigeria, stars Bridget John as Rachel Campbell and other renowned Nollywood actors and actresses.

Bridget John was so ecstatic receiving the award as the Best Actress at the FIFP.

“I just want to say thank you to God and thank you to everybody. Thank you to the Jury. To my producer Caesar Oruade and Director, Ayana Saunders, I want to say thank you for believing in me on this project, I am so overwhelmed. This is an award that tells me that I should put more effort in whatever I am doing, that there is always a reward for hard work and creativity,” she said to the applause of attendees at the FIFP.

Bridget John, who was born into royalty in Benin City, Edo State is known for winning awards. She is the CEO of Alliance Productions. She is the executive producer of ‘Adora’ a Bridget John film produced in Atlanta, Georgia.

Adora won the 2015 Royal Reel Award at the Canada International Film Festival. It garnered five nominations at the 2014 African Oscars/ NAFCA, winning Best Film in the Diaspora.

Bridget John won the award for Best Actress at the Hollywood Weekly Magazine Film Festival, 2014. Adora was also nominated for FACE Awards 2014 for Best Film. Bridget John is the FACE Awards 2014 winner for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the stage production, The Wedlock of The Gods.

She acquired extensive knowledge and immeasurable experience working as an actress and a producer on several films, TV sitcoms, stage plays and commercials. She was a cast of the reality show, the Nigerian House Wives of Atlanta.
