A 43-year old man, Victor Ebere, has been arrested in Lagos for allegedly engaging a 7-year old girl in sex and defiling her in the process.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Yusuf Road, Alakuko area of Lagos, where they reside.

The Police alleged the defendant to have lured the little girl into his apartment at about 8pm on the day the incident happened, locked his door from inside and engaged her in sex.

However, while he was still in the dastardly act, their neighbour, who suspected what happened, raised alarm which attracted other neighbours and the girl was confronted when she came out; she then revealed what happened.

The matter was reported to the Alakuko Police Division and the suspect, Ebere, was arrested and detained at the Station for interrogation over the act.

He was said to have made confessional statement and blamed the devil for his action but that did not save him from prosecution.

The Police found him culpable and subsequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for defilement, which attracts several years of imprisonment if he is tried and found guilty before the Court of Law.

The Court did not take his plea after the prosecutor, Victor Eruada, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. M.O. Tanimola, ordered his remand in Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town pending the outcome of the DPP’s report and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to the DPP for advice.

The matter was adjourned till 10th December, 2021, for the report of the DPP to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
