Lagos Govt Issues Traffic Advisory As Women’s Mini Marathon Holds Saturday

The 2021 mini-Marathon for Women tagged “Lagos Women Run” will hold on Saturday,13th November 2021, from 6.30 a.m.

The mini-marathon, which will be both virtual and actual race, will attract over 10,000 women who have expressed interest around the world to participate in Africa’s largest female fitness gathering.

In addition, any individual, team and organisation can also participate from anywhere in the world through the virtual run with the use of an LWR running App, which can be tracked and monitored. The actual race will be conducted in full compliance with all health and safety protocols of COVID-19.

Importantly, the following routes will be temporarily closed to traffic: Marina Bridge inwards Apongbon, Onikan inwards J.K Randle Avenue (TBS), Muson Centre/Flag House inwards TBS: Water Board/NITEL/Marina Bridge/IPP, Inner Marina Road inwards NITEL/State House, Ebute-Ero inwards Eko-Bridge, ljora Olopa/LAWMA HQ inward Ijora Oloye/Marine Bridge. Others are Eko-Bridge descending to Alaka.

Alaka inwards Stadium/Surulere on the service lane: Broad Street by Elegbata/Ofin, Apongbon.Consequent upon the above, the followings are the alternative routes for motorists: Motorists from Victoria lsland and lkoyi are advised to make use of Carter Bridge (ldumota Bridge) to lddo-Oyingbo-Herbert Macaulay or use Third Mainland Bridge through Alfred Rewane-Osborne Road: From Ebute-Ero to Eko-Bridge take Adeniji-Adele interchange to Carter Bridge (Idumota Bridge) to Iddo-Oyingbo-Herbert Macaulay Way to Adekunle to Third Mainland Bridge or Herbert Macaulay way to Jibowu and connect destination.

Motorists from Apapa Road that want to connect Stadium from Alaka should make use of lponri Estate to connect Bode Thomas Road, while Lagos lsland bound vehicles from Surulere are free from restrictions.

While imploring motorists to plan their journey according to the issued travel advisory for the duration of the race, the Lagos State Sports Commission appeals to road users to bear the temporary inconvenience the road restriction might cause.
