100 Southwest Athletes To Storm Lagos For 1st Regional Para-Athletics Championship

No fewer than 100 participating athletes from the six states that comprise the southwest zone are expected to compete for honours in the maiden edition of the Lagos State Para-Athletics South West regional tournament.
The event has been scheduled to take on the 18th-20th November 2021, at the Mainbowl of the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos. State.
The six states are Lagos, the host, which is presenting 30 participants; Ogun also featuring 30 athletes, Ekiti (10); Ondo (10). Others are Oyo (10) participants and Osun (10) participants.

EXPRESS understands that the Southwest regional championship tends to consolidate on the “THEME” mantra of the present administration led by Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu in Lagos State to encourage mass participation of people living with disabilities in sports, especially, para-sports and to also create an enabling environment for the athlete to unveil their talents.
According to the Chairman Lagos State Para-Athletics Association, Wale Etti, events in which athletes will feature are T11 Blind Race-T12/13 100m; T36/37/38-100; F40/41-shotput and discus; F42/F44 – discus and shot put; T45/46-200 and Shot put; T54 wheelchair race 100m and 200m; F56/57-Javelin and Shot put and F11- Shot put.
