Man, 56, Arrested For Using Cutlass To Inflict Injury On Neighbour’s Head

A 56-year old man, Okorocha, has been for allegedly using a cutlass he kept for robbers to inflict injury on his neighbour, Shokunbi Raymond, during a public fight  in Lagos State.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Ogunbiyi Street, Oshodi area of Lagos, where they reside.

The Police alleged that Okorocha had a disagreement with his neighbour, Raymond, over an undisclosed matter and in anger, Okorocha went inside his apartment and brought out a sharp cutlass and inflicted injury on Raymond’s head.

Raymond was said to have bled profusely and was rushed to the hospital while the alleged assault was reported at Makinde Police Division. The Police then arrested Okorocha and detained him at the Station for interrogation.

During interrogation, he reportedly told the Police that he kept the cutlass for armed robbers and had to use it on the victim after he provoked him.

The Police found him culpable and subsequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for assault.

He pleaded not guilty. 

The prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, asked the Court to give a date for hearing to enable the Police to prove he actually committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. E. Kubeinje, granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum while the matter was adjourned till 14th December, 2021.

However, the defendant, Okorocha, was remanded in Correctional Centre pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
