The suspect, Anthony Avukeh, has been arrested  by Police operatives from Homicide Depart of the SCID, and is now cooling his head in custody.

According to Police sources, the suspect accosted the victim while she was returning from an undisclosed place she had gone to. It led to exchange of words unknown to the woman that her husband had another plan to terminate her life.

The suspect was alleged to have used petrol he bought while the wife was away, poured it on her and used a match to set her ablaze in the process.
She was said to have been burnt beyond recognition and the charred body was taken to an undisclosed hospital for autopsy report.

The matter was reported to the Police in the area and the suspect was arrested and transferred to the SCID Panti, for further investigation.

After thorough interrogation, the Police found him culpable and subsequently charged him before the Ebute Metta Magistrates Court for murder

When he was arraigned however, the Court did not take his plea after the prosecutor, Inspector Olatunde Kehinde, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A A.Oshoniyi, ordered his remand in correctional centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when the DPP’s report will be ready.
The Court also directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP and adjourned the matter to a further date for DPP’s report to be ready, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
