Talent Hunt: Community Shield Football Tournament Holds In Badagry

The ancient city of Badagry in Lagos State, southwest Nigeria will play host to the first of its kind talent hunt football competition tagged Community Shield Football Championship.


P.M. EXPRESS reports that the tournament, which kicks off on 4 December 2021 will feature teams that have been grouped into zones, which include Kaduna FC (Zone 3), Young  Boys Star (Zone  5), Star Boys  FC (Zone  4), Future  Star (Magbon), Flourmill  FC (Zone  6), Gracewell FC, Obada and Jah Michael. 


The tournament packaged by Gracewell Football Academy will be played at Gracewell Academy Sports ground at Obasa Road, Sunnyfield Estate, off Magbon via Badagry, Lagos with the first match of the tournament kicking off by 8 a.m.

According to the organisers, the Community Shield is a talent hunt grassroots football tournament meant to discover budding talents in the Badagry zone and its environment.


“We are out to develop football talent embedded in the individual participant, to help the participants realise the prospect in football, to foster unity and friendship ties among the community, and also to keep the youth of the community from mischief through participating in sporting activities,” said a member of the organising committee, Coach Sunday Onyekaonwu.


Other members of the committee include Coach Fasuyi Pedro (Fash), Coach Omomuyiwa Confidence and Coach Ubani Cosmas.
