Woman, Child Die After Drinking Sniper During Quarrel With Husband

Tragedy struck in Lagos State after a woman, Idongesit Timothy Sunday, reportedly drank Sniper insecticide with her child and both died in their home over a quarrel with her husband.

The incident happened at Papa Major area of Ijegun, Alimosho Local Government area of Lagos, where they reside.

P.M.EXPRESS reports the woman’s husband, Ekene, has been arrested and detained by the Police at Isheri Oshun Division over the death of the woman and their only son as their corpses had been deposited at the mortuary for autopsy report.

It was gathered that the man, Ekene, met the deceased in Lagos and they started living together as husband and wife without proper marriage rites and they had a baby boy.

However, they had a disagreement over an undisclosed matter concerning the relationship, which led her to have decided to terminate her life and that of their only son.

She was said to have bought Sniper insecticide, emptied half of it in her mouth, gave the remaining half to their son and both struggled and eventually died at night.

In the morning, the husband, Ekene, went to the Police Station and reported that she drank Sniper and gave to their son too and both died on their bed.

The Police suspected his statement and detained him for further interrogation and the family of the deceased was contacted. The family alleged that he murdered the deceased and the son based on previous disagreement they had before the incident happened.

The man, Ekene, is now facing a murder charge after he told the Police that he was sure they drank Sniper insecticide, caused their death.

The Police were said to be analyzing to know how and where he was when they drank the substance and to ascertain if the deceased was assaulted before the issue of committing suicide arose.

When P.M.EXPRESS visited the Isheri Oshun Police Division over the matter, the DPO was said to have gone out for routine monitoring in the area.

However, Police sources confirmed that the suspect, Ekene, was in detention and that the DPO had given directive for the transfer of the matter to the SCID Panti, Yaba, for further investigation.
