Lagos Sports Associations Chairmen Meet, Promise Inclusive Sports Development From The Grassroots

Chairman of Lagos State Traditional Sports Association, who doubles as the Chairman of the Body of all Sports Associations in the state, Mrs Abiola Lawal has called for more hands-on-deck in order to continue leading the way for sports development in Lagos.

She made the statement at the Inaugural Meeting of the Lagos State Sports Association Chairmen at the Yoruba Tennis Club, Onikan Lagos State at the weekend.

EXPRESS reports that the administration of sports, since the government of Mr Babajide assumed office and under the coordinated administration of both Sola Aiyepeku and Oluwatoyin Gafaar, the Executive Chairman and Director General of Lagos State Sports Commission respectively. has been taken to the top-notch level.

Lawal said the essence of the Sports Association Chairmen coming together is to get things right and see how best sports can be developed in the State.

“As we all know that 2022 is the year of National Sports Festival holding in Delta State, and as a leading sports state, we lead while other states follow. We are working in accordance with the “THEMES” agenda of the present administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to ensure that sports and indeed sporting activities get to the pinnacle at the right time and on time.

“I really appreciate our amiable Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his unrelenting efforts in the development of infrastructure and other Sporting Programmes, giving room for youths to flaunt their skills”, she said.

Lawal, however, noted that sports associations have been getting it right, while the Chairmen will continue to contribute their own quotas to ensure that the state emerges tops in subsequent competitions.

” The Association Chairmen have been maintaining a cordial relationship with the management of Lagos State Sports Commission, and I am happy to say that it has been yielding positive results. We will leave nothing to chance to ensure that important matters relating to the promotion of sports in Lagos State are addressed accordingly.

In his submission, Chairman, Lagos State Darts Association, Adegbenga Odofin, disclosed that their agenda is to harness the original programmes and continue to take sports back to schools.

“We are working to develop talents right from the grassroots to the professional level and also preparing athletes’ minds for better outing in the future tournaments,” Odofin said.
