Adekalu Bulls Are Champions Of Southwest Baseball & Softball Tourney

Adekalu Bulls Baseball Club emerged the winners of the maiden edition of the South West Five Baseball Tournament in Lagos

Adekalu Bulls defeated Glorious Liberty Baseball Club of Ekiti in a highly contested final by 5 to 4 runs in 5 innings. All efforts by Glorious Liberty Chuckles Baseball to thwart Adekalu Bulls’ effort were checked to maintain their runs.

The spectators described the final encounter between Adekalu Bulls Baseball and Softball Club final with Glorious Liberty Chuckles Baseball club of Ekiti as worth watching without any doubt.

After the mind-blowing final, the President of Adekalu Bulls Baseball and Softball Club of Oshodi, Engineer Tope Alabi said the final encounter of the five Baseball would be a talk of the moment in the Baseball community in the country.

According to Alabi, the newly introduced Baseball five was organized to get the country involved in modern-day Baseball and Softball techniques and activities.

“The South West Baseball five tournament will be a talk of the town in the Baseball and Softball community for a while. There was no dull moment throughout the explosive final between Adekalu and Glorious Liberty Chuckles Baseball, it is worth watching and we are looking forward to perfecting the new format of the baseball and Softball game.

” This new format is an eye-opener and we will leverage on it, it will improve Nigeria’s status in Baseball five” Said Alabi.

Meanwhile the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Nigeria Baseball and Softball Association, Robert Anthony applauded the organizers of the South West Baseball for thinking outside the box to stage a tournament like this.

Mr. Anthony, an ex-international hinted that the just concluded tournament has given the Nigeria Baseball and Softball Association (NBSA), and Engineer Tope Alabi the opportunity to become pioneers of the Baseball five in the country.

Anthony further said the players and the officials’ data acquired at the competition would be used to select talented players for the national camp from 8th to 21stbl of May later this year.

He stressed that the Africa Baseball and Softball Association, (ABSA), a qualifier in Tanzania will be played as a mixed-gender tournament same as the World Baseball and Softball Confederation (Baseball five World Cup).

” I give kudos to the organizers of this South West tournament, I must commend them. The newly introduced Baseball five, the game has gotten its uniqueness and has also become a medal game in World Youth Olympics.

“The game of baseball five is an interesting sport to watch as it is played by mixed genders in rapid innings keeping the audience engaged at all playtimes.

“The just-concluded tournament has presented NBSA Board Tope Alabi the opportunity to become pioneers of the Nigeria Baseball five in Nigeria. The talented players and the officials discovered during the event would be invited to the national camp for trials.

“Africa Baseball and Softball Association NBSA, a qualifier in Tanzania will be played as a mixed-gender tournament same as the World Baseball Confederation Baseball five tournament” Anthony slated.

A total of twenty teams in a single round-robin took part in South West Baseball five, they include; Efforts will Academy, Glorious Liberty Chuckles Baseball club, K.F Dodgers of Ikorodu, Badagry Angels and Adekalu Bulls Baseball and Softball Club etc.
