Police operatives from the Lagos State Command have arrested a 37-year old school driver, Kingsley Okwumbu, for allegedly engaging a 3-year old pupil and defiling her with his fingers.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at the popular Beehive Nursery and Primary School located at Dosumu Street, Agidingbi area of Ikeja, Lagos, where the victim was registered as a pupil.

The suspect, Okwumbu, was alleged by the Police to have lured the victim to an undisclosed place and abused her by inserting his fingers into her private part in order to satisfy his sexual desire.

Having satisfied himself, he allowed her to go but warned her not to disclose what happened between them.

However, the pupil got home and reported what happened to her parents, who then contacted the school management over the dastardly act for necessary action.

The matter was reported to the Police at Isokoko Division and the suspect was arrested and detained for interrogation over the alleged act.

After thorough interrogation, the Police found him culpable and subsequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged offence.

When he was arraigned, the Court denied him bail and ordered his remand in custody pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice.

This followed the motion by the prosecutor, DSP Kehinde Ajayi, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice since the victim is still a minor.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. E. Kubeinje, ordered his remand in custody pending the outcome of the DPP’s report and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.

The matter was adjourned till 5th May, 2022, for the report of the DPP to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
