A 30-year old man, Ajibola Akindele, has landed in serious trouble for allegedly committing sacrilege by forcefully tearing a lady’s pants and having sex with her inside the church.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 16th April, 2022, at Ita Oshin area of Abeokuta, Ogun State, where the church is located.

Police operatives from the Ogun State Command have already arrested Ajibola and detained for interrogation over the alleged dastardly act inside the house of God.
This was confirmed by the Police Public Relations officer, Ogun State Command,  DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, who said that the suspect was undergoing interrogation over the alleged rape.

He stated the suspect was arrested following a report lodged at the Lafenwa Divisional Headquarters by the mother of the victim, who alleged that she sent her daughter to go and decorate the church at the Ita Oshin area of Abeokuta, together with the suspect.
DSP Oyeyemi said: “The woman said that on getting to the church, they met some other women who came to sweep the church in preparation for Sunday’s service. But as soon as those women left after sweeping the church, the suspect took advantage of being alone with the victim and forcefully had unlawful carnal knowledge of her right inside the church”.
“Upon the report, DPO Lafenwa Division, CSP Kayode Shadrach, detailed detectives to go after the suspect and bring him to justice. The detectives quickly moved to the scene and promptly arrested the suspect, who has since confessed to the crime.”

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Bankole, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to Anti Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and possible prosecution.

The suspect risks several years of imprisonment if he is tried and found guilty before the Court for the alleged dastardly act but that will be after the conclusion of Police investigation, which will determine his fate.
