Mr. Kolapo Kola-Daisi, a leading contestant in the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for Oyo South Senatorial District, has called out the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over the rescheduled primary held Tuesday in Ibadan, Oyo State.

In the rerun, former Oyo State Secretary to the State Government, Chief Sarafadeen Alli was declared the winner after scoring 185 votes to Kola-Daisi who got 145.

The announcement of the first election, conducted on Sunday, was suspended on grounds of irregularities in the number of votes.

But in a statement Wednesday in reaction to the outcome of the rerun, Kola-Daisi described INEC supervised rescheduled thats as “illegitimate process and a sham”.

He however thanked delegates and supporters for their support, especially during the process of the senatorial primaries.

The aggrieved aspirant told them that the fresh election “was held by a sect of our party”.

“Both constitutionally and by right to delegates’ votes, it is an illegitimate process and a sham; I totally dissociate and distance myself from it.”

Kola-Daisi, a son-in-law to former Oyo State Governor, Late Senator Abiola Ajimobi, announced that he had sent a formal complaint to the electoral umpire, the APC National Headquarters, and the Senatorial Primaries Committee.

“Our supporters can be assured of my resolve to explore all possible options to reclaim their mandate,” he added.

Earlier, some APC aspirants including Abisoye Fagade and an incumbent House of Representatives member, Shina Peller had complained of inappropriate elections in Oyo.

Peller, who represents Iseyin/Itesiwaju/ Kajola/Iwajowa federal constituency, also raised the alarm of an assassination attempt on his life.
