A housewife, Bilkisu Muhammad, has told her husband, Sirajo Mansur, that he cannot leave their marriage and avoid taking care of his responsibilities after having many children.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the embattled woman stated this before the Sharia Court in Kaduna State where she filed a suit against her husband, asking the Court to order her husband to pay her house rent, provide food and school fees for their children.

The embittered woman stated this after her husband demanded that the marriage should be dissolved so that they can go their separate ways without taking care of the family.

But Mrs. Muhammad insisted and prayed the Court not to dissolve her marriage to Sirajo Mansur because she wanted her husband to take care of his responsibilities.

Mrs. Bilkisu Muhammad filed the suit before the Court against Mansur, stating that he travelled to Lagos for work and failed to provide food, shelter, clothing and school fees for their children.

She stated that since he travelled, he abandoned her and the children and made things difficult for her and the children to the extent their landlord ordered her to vacate the apartment she occupied because he refused to pay house rent.

She prayed the Court to order Mansur to pay the rent, provide food and pay their children school fees.

In his defence, Mansur, who was represented by Sulaiman, his brother, said that the defendant instructed him to tell the Court to dissolve the marriage since his wife filed a suit against him.He added that he tried to pay the house rent but the landlord refused to collect payment, saying he had given out the apartment to someone else.

“For the school fees, the children are currently writing exams. I will pay the school fees after the exams” he said.

The judge, Malam Rilwanu Kyaudai, ordered the defendant to pay the rent, provide food allowance and pay the children’s school fees and ordered that the landlord be invited to Court.

He adjourned the matter till 21st June, 2022, for continuation of hearing on the matter.
