A 50-year old married man, Oladosu Sakiru, has landed in trouble in Lagos State after he reportedly Impregnated his neighbour’s 13-year old girl, secretly attempted to abort the pregnancy and he was caught in the act.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Sakiru was arrested alongside a woman, Rasaq Tops, suspected to be the nurse, who collected money from Sakiru to abort the pregnancy before the information leaked and they were arrested and detained at the station for interrogation.
The incident happened at Odusanmi Street, Mushin area of Lagos State, where they reside.
Both Sakiru and Tola have been brought before the Ogba Magistrates Court for conspiracy for attempting to abort the pregnancy while Sakiru was also charged for defilement, which attracts several years of imprisonment if he was found guilty before the Court.
The Police alleged the suspect, Sakiru, to have been secretly sleeping with the girl and asked her not to tell anyone about it. And he continued the dastardly act until he impregnated her in the process.
The girl was said to have informed him about the pregnancy and to cover it up, he arranged with the supposed nurse, Tola, to procure drugs for abortion from an undisclosed Pharmaceutical outlet before they were caught and handed over to the Police for prosecution over their conduct.
After thorough interrogation and having been found culpable, the Police charged them before the Court for the alleged offence accordingly.
The Court did not take their plea when they were arraigned. It was so following a motion moved by the prosecutor, DSP Kehinde Ajayi, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice because the alleged offence involved a minor.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. E. Kubeinje, ordered their remand in the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when the DPP’s report will be ready while the prosecutor was directed to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.
The matter was adjourned till 5th July, 2022, for the report of the DPP to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
