The marital union between a man, Nurudeen and his wife, Nimota, has collapsed in Lagos State after the husband alleged that he caught his wife always spending quality love time with his neighbour online.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the husband, Nurudeen, filed a divorce suit against his estranged wife, Nimota, before the Igando Customary Court on grounds of infidelity, absenteeism and negligence to marital obligations.
Consequently the Court dissolved their marriage as the Court President, Mr. Adeniyi Koledoye, ordered that the couple should go their separate ways without any further bickering and ordered Nurudeen to pay his wife, the sum of N250, 000 as severance package.
In the suit, Nurudeen, a businessman who resides at Osunba Street, Igando, Lagos, had approached the Court seeking for the dissolution of his marriage with Nimota.
He claimed that his wife had left their matrimonial home on three occasions and once stayed away from the family for about two months and accused Nimota to have been involved in extramarital affairs with their neighbour, who she spent quality time with online.
”The last time she left the house, she didn’t return for a long time. When she eventually returned, it was to pack her belongings. I am fed up with her neglect of marital obligations and threats. I need peace of mind,” he said.
However, in response, Nimota told the Court that she left the house because Nurudeen had the habit of beating her at the slightest provocation and she was afraid he might kill her one day because of his temperament.
She also told the Court that Nurudeen had severally denied her access to their matrimonial home whenever she returned home late without finding the cause of her coming late.
Nimota said that the allegation of infidelity was untrue and an attempt to portray her in bad light.
”He is short tempered. He accuses me wrongly of infidelity. He has even arrested and locked me up in Police cell. I am comfortable with the dissolution of the marriage because I am tired of being beaten and all the false allegations against me” she stated.
Consequently, the Court dissolved the marriage and asked the parties to go their separate ways in the interest of peace.
