Writing His Name In History – Uzodimma’s Dedication To A Mission And Vision

While extolling Governor Uzodimma for his developmental strides, President Buhari said, “You have written your own history”.

This was after the President saw the ultra-modern chamber of the rebuilt House of Assembly and the two signature roads constructed by the Governor.

To write your name in history, you must have engaged in multifaceted activities for the benefit of your people. This is exactly what Governor Hope Uzodimma has done and more is yet to come. More history is still in the making by Governor Hope Uzodimma. After all, he is still less than three years in office.

In the words of Oscar Wilde,
“Anybody can make history, but only a great man can write it”.

From his exemplary leadership laced with solid service delivery in different sectors, Governor Uzodimma is not only making history, but writing his own positive history at the same time for posterity.

Governor Uzodimma is a man with vast knowledge and extensive experience. His name always enjoyed great respect among his friends and peers. Even his adversaries know the stellar stuff he is made of.

Uzodimma will eventually leave a rich heritage for Imo people. The signs are all there. He has already started strong. He is not only a successful politician and a far-sighted statesman, he is also an original thinker and philosopher. Full of wisdom, motivation and determination to succeed.

According to the great Indian statesmen, Mahatma Gandhi,
“A small body of determined spirits fired by an unquenchable faith in their mission can alter the course of history”

You will not be wrong if you describe Governor Hope Uzodimma as a man fired by unquenchable faith in his mission to develop Imo State and add his quota in the overall transformation of the state. This was captured by no other person than the Nigerian President when he said that, “I applaud the Governor  – I prefer to refer the road revolution in Imo State as infrastructural revolution”

What surprises some people is the audacity of Governor Uzodimma. When the Governor said that his projects had defied solutions until now, he is absolutely correct. At least the revitalization of the Acharaubo Farm Estate at Emekuku in Owerri North Local Government Area is a case in point. The projects the Governor has breathed life into were all long neglected, abandoned and forgotten by previous administrations.

“History is merely a list of surprises. It can only prepare us to be surprised yet again” said Kurt Vonnegut.

The Imo State Governor is surprising those who did not give him a chance. Those who feasted on the contrived insecurity in Imo State, those who sabotaged the payroll system, those who unleashed media violence against him, and those who swore to destroy him. History is telling us that the naysayers will be surprised again and again as more developments are delivered.

It can only take a man of great ideas to do what Governor Hope Uzodimma is doing. As H. G. Wells made us to understand,
“Human history in essence is the history of ideas”. For Uzodimma, it is ideas about providing healthcare service, about good roads, about public water supply, about agricultural revitalization, about payment of salaries and pensions as at when due, about judicious management of scarce resources, about securing Imo State from the onslaught of bandits. etc.

No wonder the Governor vowed to remain steadfast, tenacious, and resilient. “We cannot be distracted, what we are doing is to the glory of God ” Uzodimma had stated.

Indeed, no man of goodwill can deny the fact that Uzodimma is transforming the economic landscape of Imo State for good despite the lean resources at his disposal.

Life is all about craving for a better future and that is why the Governor is directing all his efforts tirelessly towards achieving the objectives of sustainable development by ensuring that Imo people have the infrastructures that can lead to a better life.
