Man, 37, Docked For Defiling & Damaging Private Part Of Girl, 4

A 37-year old man, Abiodun Babatunde, has been arrested for allegedly defiling a 4-year old girl, damaging her private part and thereafter threatening to kill her if she reveals what he did to anyone.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened in Surulere area of Ikirun, Osun State, where they reside.
He has been charged before the Osogbo Magistrates Court on 28th September, 2022, after being found culpable by the Police.
The Police charged Babatunde on four counts bothering on unlawful intercourse, sexual assault and threat to life, for the offence allegedly committed on 20th March, 2022.
The prosecutor, Elisha Olusegun, said that Babatunde sexually assaulted the victim (name withheld) and thereafter threatened to kill her if she told anyone about the incident having injured her private part.
However, the girl revealed what happened and the matter was reported to the Police while the victim was taken to an undisclosed hospital for treatment following injuries she sustained.
The prosecutor said that the offences Babatunde committed contravened Sections 31(1)(2) and 32 of the Child’s Rights Law of Osun State 2007, as well as, Sections 360 and 86 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. II Laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2002.
The plea of the defendant was not taken due to the nature of the matter although his charges were read.
The Presiding Magistrate, A. Odeleye, ordered that the defendant be remanded in Ilesa Correctional Centre without an option of bail and adjourned the matter to 3rd November, 2022, for the report of the DPP to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
