Three traffic robbers, arrested by the Police operatives on the highway in Lagos State, have reacted over their arrest stating that they were harmless as no dangerous weapons were recovered from them and they did not attack any victim during their failed operation.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspects, Segun Olaiya, 20, Ayinde Waris, 19 and Bashiru Mohammad, were arrested on Monday 26th September, 2022, for allegedly disposing motorists before they were caught.
The suspects however, admitted that they were arrested on the highway but stated that they have not even started the operation before they were arrested and no exhibits were recovered from them by the Police to establish that they were robbers.
Contrarily, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer,  SP Benjamin Hundeyin, insisted that they were notorious traffic robbers, who had been terrorizing motorists on the highway.
He disclosed that the suspects were arrested by the Police operatives from Ketu Division as the gang notorious for dispossessing motorists of their belongings at Ile-Iwe/Kosofe, Ikorodu Road, in Ketu area of the State.
SP Hundeyin stated that the suspects were attacking some motorists before the Police on covert operation in the area apprehended them.
Hundeyin said that the suspects are currently in custody assisting the Police in an ongoing investigation to arrest other members of their gang. Suspects would be arraigned at the conclusion of investigation.
But no record of any exhibits recovered from them was stated as claimed by the suspects that they were harmless robbers.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun Alabi, fdc, has directed that efforts be sustained across the state towards ensuring that all miscreants are apprehended and dealt with in accordance with the law.
