MultiChoice Nigeria Boss, Ugbe Celebrates Value Adding Impacts Of BBNaija Show To Nigerian Society

As Level Up Season 7 event in ends, MultiChoice Nigeria has once again explained that the Big Brother Naija programme has added unprecedented value to the Nigerian society.

John Ugbe, Managing Director of MultiChoice Nigeria, Africa’s leading entertainment company, told viewers across Nigeria and the rest of the world during the winner prize presentation for the just concluded reality TV show on Tuesday in Lagos, that the programme not only pushed Nigeria to the world but has touched every facet of the society.

“Big Brother Naija is just more than. entertainment, but a programme which has been packaged to add evident value to society. The production costs and the multiplier effects of its existence cannot be quantifiable as everybody has their own shares of the dividends.

“The show is renowned for its social and economic value. Over 14,000 people across various industries have worked on this show. This year, 1,200 people worked directly including photographers, carpenters, interior decorators, and fashion designers. The show contributes significantly to the economy. Also, housemates won over N100 million worth of prizes on tasks alone this year and 30 fans get to win N1million each,” said Ugbe via pre-recorded remarks aired during the live broadcast prize presentation.

“I am happy to say that we had a group of divesting talented Housemates and I am glad to say that we had a recording-breaking show that generated over one billion votes from fans across the world,” Ugbe said.

“This is unprecedented. Thanks to all members of the crew, we were able to deliver an outstanding production ragged Season of Premium Content at the end which saw Pyhna being declared the winner. We are extremely proud to have created a platform that continues to entertain the viewers, celebrate the talent of the housemates, showcase the different expressions of our culture and contribute to the creative industry in Nigeria,” said Busola Tejumola, Executive Head of Content & West Africa Channels, MultiChoice Group, while corroborating the Managing Director during her opening remarks at the presentation ceremony.

“We received over 40,000 applications after which 27 Housemates were selected for the Level Up show. We have 72 days of a show that generated phenomenon engagements,” she said.

Big Brother Naija ‘Level Up’ housemate, Ijeoma Otabor, better known as Phyna, won the 7th edition of the reality television show. Phyna, who was born in June 1997, hails from Edo State, south-south Nigeria.

She won for herself the sum of N50 million cash and prizes worth another N50 million, a brand new SUV courtesy of Innosons Motors, a paid trip to Dubai, supplies of Pepsi products a bitcoin from Quidax, soap and other goods from Unik, electronics from Nexus, dairy products from Dano, packs of Munch, and cartons of waw detergent.

She also received a Tecno Camon 19, Innoson G5T from Innoson vehicles, and an all-expense paid trip for two to Dubai from Travelbeta.
