A 38-year old notorious fraudster, Haruna Garba, who allegedly specialized in using fake currencies to defraud innocent people of their hard earnings has been finally arrested by the Police in Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Haruna, was arrested by the operatives of the Rapid Response Squad, RRS Unit of the Lagos State Police Command within Computer Village in Ikeja area of the Lagos metropolis.
Some fake Dollars were also recovered from him as exhibits and he is now with the Police for prosecution.
He ran out of luck and was arrested after a victim he had duped in August, 2022, saw him and raised alarm after unexpectedly sighting him dubiously engaging a customer close to the same place he had been swindled.
He was promptly arrested and detained for interrogation over his conduct and alleged criminal activities in the area he was apprehended.
This was confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer,  Lagos State Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin. He said that the suspect was in custody undergoing interrogation over the conduct.
“Preliminary investigation indicates that Haruna Garba, who was found with fake seven hundred Dollars, has been in the fraudulent business of fake currencies for over three years after he was tutored by his late master.”
“Commander RRS, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, has in line with the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun Alabi, transferred the suspect and exhibits to State Headquarters for further investigation and eventual prosecution.” he stated.
The suspect risks several years of imprisonment if he is tried and found guilty before the Court for the alleged offence but that will be after the conclusion of investigations by the Police.
