Imo APC Chairman, Ebere Speaks On State Of The Party

A TEXT OF PRESS CONFERENCE BY THE STATE CHAIRMAN, ALL PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS, APC, IMO STATE, HON. MACDONALD EBERE PhD, ON THE STATE OF THE PARTY, TODAY, MONDAY NOVEMBER 14, 2022.

PROTOCOLS:

1. Good morning distinguished Ladies and gentlemen of the forth estate of the realm. It is my esteemed pleasure to welcome you all on behalf of the State Working Committee of our great party, the All Progressives Congress, APC to this very important press conference on the state of our party, as we approach the 2023 general elections.

2. This became expedient following the successful conclusion of our strategic tour of the 27 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the state and town hall meetings with executive committees of the party drawn from the chapters (booth), Wards and LGAs as well as other relevant stakeholders.

3. Ladies and Gentlemen, you will recall that on October 13, 2022, the leadership of the APC in the state under my watch, approved and made public the intention of the party to undertake a thorough tour of the 27 Local Government Areas for the purpose of having first hand information on the strength of the party or otherwise, basically at the grassroots.

4. The exercise, which became timely because of the need to reactivate the operational mode of the party was expected amongst other things, to provide the administrators and other critical stakeholders of the party the opportunity to x-ray and evaluate the collective commitment and preparedness of the respective local government chapters of the party.

5. As a preliminary step to access the peculiarities of various chapters of the party ahead of the election, the programme was targeted at providing the enabling ground for strengthening internal cohesion, unity of purpose and clear sense of direction.

6. The tour of the 27 LGAs, which kicked off on Saturday, October 15, from Owerri North saw us criss crossing the length and breadth of the state with a grand finale on Friday November 11, 2022 at Owerri Municipal council with a resounding success. Beyond the success of the programme, the outcome was indeed outstanding, heartwarming, reassuring and encouraging. It was in all ramification, a fulfilling and exciting exercise.

7. The tour which in no small measure elicited so much enthusiasm amongst party faithful across board, provided us a unique platform to engage firsthand with our party managers, particularly at the booth and ward levels, by interacting with them directly, hearing and responding to their presentations, questions and inquiries. This aspect of the programme presented another interesting side, never envisaged.

8. At the conclusion of this preliminary operational exercise, a review committee has been put in place to develop a SWOT analysis of the outcome of the town hall meetings to enable us maximize the opportunities and benefits derivable from the programme.

9. Beyond technical benefit of the tour, what is self-evident and gratifying is the realization that our party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, is the most popular, visible, vibrant and resourceful political party in Imo State today. It was a delight to note that despite the politically-sponsored media propaganda and spread of malicious falsehood against the APC -led administration of Governor Hope Uzodimma, the popularity and acceptability of the shared prosperity administration is on the rise amongst the Imo electorate.

9. As a party, we are indeed satisfied with the strength of our party across the 27 local government areas. The sense of responsibility, unity of purpose and clarity of direction amongst our candidates, leaders and stakeholders is not only reassuring, but a clear indication that the 2023 general election is indeed a foreclosed deal for the party.

10. Without sounding immodest or for fear of any contradiction, our party the All Progressives Congress, APC, is the only political party in the state without a single threat of internal crisis, squabbles, division or conflict of interest. Beyond our strength, popularity and acceptability amongst the electorate, we are the only organized, focused and undistracted political party in Imo State today committed to meeting the genuine aspirations of our people.

11. While we explored the opportunity to arm our party men and women with the phenomenal infrastructural strides of the Governor Uzodimma -led administration as a campaign tool, we extracted the commitment of party members to work and deliver all candidates of our party.

12. As we get set for the main electioneering campaign activities, we are optimistic that our party the All Progressives Congress is the party to beat in Imo, given the state of our preparedness, commitment and unity of purpose amongst leaders and stakeholders.

13. We reaffirm our commitment as political party on behalf of our candidates and other relevant stakeholders to approach the forthcoming general elections with the best democratic practices of issue-based campaigns and non-violent election.

14. Finally, we must not fail to extend our profound gratitude to the leader of our party in the state and Governor, His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, who has provided us the enabling platform and all necessary support to effectively serve our great party at a time like this. We equally thank our esteemed leaders across the LGAs, who in spite of the constraints of their obvious tight personal commitments and schedules, did make out time to receive us in their various local government areas.
We appreciate without reservation the uncommon support and solidarity shown to the administration of Governor Hope Uzodimma and our party, the APC, by large percentage of Imo people. We equally reassure them of our unwavering commitment to making life better for all and sundry through the provision of dividends of good democratic governance in the state.
