Woman, 38, Docked For Forcing House Girl, 15, To Drink Waste Water As Punishment

Police operatives at State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba, have arrested a 38-year old woman, Aisha Chine, for allegedly maltreating her 15-year old house girl, Precious Kadiri, by assaulting and forcing her to drink waste water from a pipe as punishment in Lagos State. 
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Ganiu Street, Satellite town, Lagos State, where they reside.
The Police alleged that the suspect, Mrs. Aisha, brought the victim, Precious, to live with her as her house girl and to assist her in domestic affairs at their home.
However, while Aisha was living with Precious, she was said to have maltreated her by inflicting injury on her body and went further to force her to drink noxious water, which drew the attention of their neighbours and the matter was reported to the Police in the area.
The Police arrested and later transferred her to the SCID, Yaba, for further investigation over her conduct on the victim.
After thorough interrogation, she was found culpable and consequently charged before the Yaba Magistrates Court for the alleged offence.
She pleaded not guilty when she was arraigned.
The Prosecutor, Supol Rita Momah, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since she pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that she actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. Adeola Olatunbosun, granted her bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and land owner.
She was remanded in custody at the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when she will perfect her bail conditions while the matter was adjourned till 15th November, 2022, for mention before the matter was further adjourned due to vacation by the Court.
