Man, 73, In Police Net Over S*x With Neighbour’s 5-Year Old Girl

A 73-year old man, Dukuye Ohwofete, may likely spend the rest of his life in prison custody for allegedly engaging his neighbour’s 5-year old girl in sex in Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Ohwofete, has been arrested and charged for defilement.
The incident happened at LSDPC, Isolo area of Lagos State, where they reside.
The Police alleged that the suspect lured the girl to his apartment, removed her pants and engaged her in sex but was unlucky as he was caught in the act.
The matter was reported to the Police in the area and he was arrested. He was later transferred to the Gender Section of the Lagos State Police Command for interrogation over his conduct.
After thorough interrogation, the Police found him culpable and subsequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged offence.
But the Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Inspector Lucky Ihiehie, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.A. Layinka, ordered his remand in custody at the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.
The matter was adjourned till 14th February, 2023, for report of the DPP’s advice to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
