Lip Sync Battle Challenge Winner Gets N1m, As Show Wraps Up In Style

The Lip Sync Battle Africa (Season 2) pop phenomenon, which premiered on MTV Base on Wednesday 22 April 2017, was wrapped up in grand style at a special Lip Sync Battle Africa Wrap Up Party held over the weekend at Club Quilox, Victoria Island, Lagos. 

The winner of the viral Lip Sync Battle Challenge was also unveiled at the event hosted by MTV Base VJ, Folu Storms.

The Lip Sync Battle Africa season 2 which was kicked off in April with the #LSBChallenge was co-hosted by colourful Nigerian TV star Denrele Edun and South Africa’s onscreen personality, Pearl Thusi.

The show brought together some of Africa’s biggest entertainment acts as they mimed to well-known songs.

Featured acts include Patoranking, Tekno, Falz, Simi, Victoria Kimani, Tayo Faniran, Banky W, Bovi, Vanessa Mdee, IK Osakioduwa, DJ Xclusive, Ayo Makun amongst others

Oluwaseun Adegoke, a Mechanical Engineer was announced winner of the #LSBChallenge at the closing event.

Adegoke, whose entry was a mime to Pharrell William’s “Happy” song, was awarded N1million prize money and a VIP Experience for two to an MTV Award show.

Adegoke clinched the top spot out of ten finalists selected from thousands of entries.

Speaking at the event, Monde Twala, Vice President, BET, Youth & Music, Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) Africa said: “The Lip Sync Battle Africa season 2 provided great entertainment across the continent. Entertainment is one activity that youths across Africa find very attractive and MTV will continue to provide rewarding positive entertainment experiences for young people”.

Targeted at mass African youth, MTV base is MTV’s first bespoke channel for the African market and features the continent’s broadest mix of contemporary artists and music genres.

Launched on 22 February 2005, MTV base combines African and international music genres relevant to young African viewers including R’n’B, dancehall, hip-hop, kwaito, hip life, reggae, zouk, m’balax and Afrobeat, celebrating the cultural vibrancy and creativity of African music and artists.
