I Killed & Dumped Her Corpse Inside Septic Tank – Suspect Tells Court

A 49-year old man, Eyo Bassey Etim, has narrated before the Federal High Court sitting in Calabar, Cross River State, how he kidnapped and murdered a lady, Miss Edemawan Harmony and dumped her body in a septic tank in Akpabuyo Local Government Area of the State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that Etim admitted to have killed the victim before the Court and was remanded in custody having pleaded guilty to the two-count charge of conspiracy, kidnapping and murder in the charge with suit number FHC/CA/2C/2023 pending when he will be sentenced accordingly.
The Presiding Judge, Justice Rosemary Dugbo Oghoghorie, ordered that the defendant be remanded till 18th April, 2023, when the matter would come up for facts and sentence.
While in Court, Etim revealed that after he had murdered the victim and dumped her in a septic tank, he also used her phone to send text message to her family members in a bid to deceive them not to search for their daughter.
The text message obtained read in part, “…I am sorry about what I did to Sir Eyo, his agent sent me the N9 million, money from the sales of his house, I have the money, I’m going to America, I will reach out to you with my new number when I get to the United States…”
Members of the community also alleged him to be behind the murder other victims in the area as he was said to be responsible for the disappearance of the owners of the house where he murdered Miss Edemawan.
The late Miss Edemawan was declared missing on 22nd December, 2022, while her corpse was discovered on Christmas day from the septic tank by the Anti Cultism and Kidnapping Squad (Dragon Squad), a unit of the Nigeria Police led by SP Ogini Chukwuma, following a tip off from the members of the community.
The defendant risks life imprisonment or death by hanging for the alleged culpable homicide under the Criminal law of the State if the Court finds him guilty as he had already admitted to have committed the alleged offence.
