Siminalayi Fubara: The Governorship Candidate Of The PDP, Rivers State

EARLY LIFE

Siminalayi Fubara was born on 28th January 1975 in Opobo Town in Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area of Rivers State to the family of Elder Joseph Fubara and Madam Love Fubara. He started life in Opobo town and then moved to Port Harcourt in the 90s to further his education.

EDUCATION

Siminalayi Fubara attended Opobo Primary School in Opobo Town where he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate in 1986. Thereafter, he proceeded to Comprehensive Secondary School, also in Opobo and got his West African Examination Council Secondary School Certificate in 1992. Mr. Fubara got admitted into Rivers State University of Science and Technology, (now Rivers State University), Nkpolu-Oroworukwo, Port Harcourt in 1996. He graduated in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education (Accountancy option). His passion for educational pursuits rewarded him with more certificates even as a civil servant. He obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Accountancy at Enugu State University of Science and Technology in 2012; a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Finance from the University of Port Harcourt in 2013, and a further Master of Science degree in Finance at the University of Port Harcourt in 2016.

WORK/CAREER

Siminalayi’s working experience began at the Rivers State Ministry of Finance where he performed his National Youth Service between 2000-2001. In 2003, he joined the Rivers State Post Primary Schools Board as a graduate teacher at Comprehensive School Alesa, Eleme. In 2005, Siminalayi transferred his service to the mainstream civil service and was posted to the Accounts Department of the Ministry of Works. Between 2006 and 2015, he served as an Assistant to the Accountant General (AGA) of Rivers State. He was subsequently posted to the Government House as the Director of Finance and Accounts (DFA) in 2015, and was promoted to the rank of Permanent Secretary in 2020. In 2021, Siminalayi Fubara got to the Zenith of his successful public service career as the Accountant General of Rivers State, a position he resigned from in 2022 to pursue his governorship aspiration.

HONOURS

Besides Sir Fubara’s impressive academic degrees, professional training, and certificates, he is also a member of several professional bodies, including Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM); Fellow of Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) and Fellow of Chartered Institute of Taxation among others. In 2022, he was recognized by the Rivers State Government with the Distinguished Service Star honours (DSSRS). He also holds the prestigious traditional title of Amaopu-Senibo of Opobo.

RELIGION

Sir Siminalayi Fubara is a devout Christian of the Anglican Communion and a Knight of St. Christopher (KSC). His life philosophy is anchored on faith, service, and compassion.

FAMILY/LIFESTYLE

Siminalayi Fubara is happily married to Mrs. Valerie Ibiere Fubara and they are blessed with three lovely sons. Shaped by his humble background, he is adorned with kindness. He grew up loving, touching, and reaching out to all who came by him without drawing lines. He is a man of few words and he walks the talk.
