It was the end of the game for four deadly armed robbers, who are based in Lagos State but carry out their robbery operations in Ogun State, as they were arrested by Police operatives after a fierce gun battle.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspects, Habeeb Salaudeen, 24, Ezekiel Jayesimi, 30, Olamilekan Teniola, 22, and Olaitan Sonibare, 25, were arrested on 13th March, 2023, in Lagos State after their failed operation in Ogun State.
This was disclosed by the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed that they were in custody undergoing interrogation over their criminal conduct.
SP Oyeyemi stated that the suspects were apprehended following a distress call received by Policemen at Ode-Remo Division at about 2:30am that seven armed robbers had invaded a residential building at COTCO Road, Ode-Remo.
The DPO of Ode-Remo Police Division, CSP Fasogbon Olayemi, reportedly responded to the distress call by leading his men to the crime scene.
“On getting there, the  Police engaged the hoodlums in a gun battle, but the robbers managed to escape in a white Toyota Rav 4 car, which they came with,” Oyeyemi stated.
However, they ran out of luck while they were escaping as they were stopped at Warewa area by Policemen, who noticed bullet holes on their vehicle.
The robbers, who abandoned their car and fled, were later tracked to Mushin area of Lagos, where four members of the gangs were nabbed while the remaining were said to be at large.
SP Abimbola Oyeyemi also confirmed that four iPhones and 13 android phones were recovered from the suspects as exhibits and the suspects have all confessed to the commission of the crime.
Meanwhile, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Frank Mba, has directed the transfer of the suspects to the State CIID for discreet investigation. He also ordered a manhunt for the remaining members of the gang.
He stated that the suspects will be charged before the Court for the alleged offence after the conclusion of investigations by the Police.
