A 52-year old CEO of Kingdom Cornerstone Orphanage Home, Ago-Tailor in Odo-Ona area of Ibadan, Oyo State, Kolade Ajayi, has been arrested over alleged raped of two girls in the orphanage home.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Ajayi, has been arrested and charged for statutory rape.
That was the decision of the Oyo State Family Court 2, sitting at Iyaganku Ibadan, Oyo State, which ordered the remand of Ajayi over the alleged dastardly act on the helpless victims.
The Police alleged that Ajayi used his position as the boss of the Orphanage home and took advantage of the victims between 2022 and 2023 to engage them in sexual activity by penetrating their private parts without their consent.
The Prosecutor, Inspector Folake Ewe, told the Court that Ajayi allegedly raped the two girls in the orphanage home and the matter should be referred to the DPP for legal advice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. P. O. Adetuyibi, did not take the defendant’s plea due to lack of jurisdiction, but ordered that he be remanded at Abolongo Correctional Centre in Oyo town.
The Court also directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for advice while Ajayi would remain in custody pending receipt of advice from the State Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
The matter was adjourned till 9th May, 2023, for mention for the DPP’s advice to be ready, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
