Man, 27, Docked Over Sexual Assault On 9-Month Old Baby

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 23rd March, 2023, at White sand area in Ijora Badia, Lagos, where they reside.

He has been arrested and transferred to the Gender Section of the Lagos State Police Command, where he was interrogated and found culpable for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment or life imprisonment.

According to the Police, the suspect sneaked into the room, where the baby’s mother laid her. While she was sleeping, the mother went out to buy some household items.

Before the mother returned, he had already defiled her by penetration, which prompted the mother to raise alarm and he fled. But he was later arrested and detained by the Police for interrogation.

The suspect was charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged offence but the Court did not take his plea following a motion moved by the Police prosecutor, DSP Kehinde Ajayi, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. E. Kubenije, ordered his remand in custody at the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.

The matter was adjourned till 3rd May, 2023, for mention for the DPP’s report to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
